Final Flooring Appointment

An interesting development. Since we have first signed with HiLine, the flooring company they were contracted with, was bought out by another company. This means we had to select EVERYTHING all over again. While that may sound like bad news, it actually turned out to be great news!

First off, the new flooring place was MUCH more enjoyable to visit. It was big, open, and had beautiful displays. The previous one was under the attic roof, very cluttered and extremely hot in the summer. It didn't take 30 minutes for everyone to be agitated and done.

Second, this installer now made various subway tiles a standard feature (YAY!). That was the backsplash I really wanted, but was not willing to upgrade on top of all the flooring cost.

Finally, the price overall was MUCH better. We were able to get hardwood in all the main areas, including our playroom, and tiled bathrooms for the price that we anticipated paying with the previous company for only hardwood excluding the playroom. That is a HUGE win!

Unfortunately, someone else had checked out or granite slab sample, so we were left with a printed version. Of course that was less than ideal, but we made it work.

Interestingly, this flooring company does not even carry solid hardwood. Apparently it is highly discouraged to be installed in our climate and engineered hardwood is the way to go. Along the lines of our previous choice, we picked a light hardwood.

This is our bathroom tile choice. We have the same cabinets and granite slabs throughout the whole house.

We picked the white subway tile. I love the clean, elegant look of it and of course it's farmhouse touch ;) This will be in the kitchen and both bathrooms.

Finally here, you can see our carpet choice. We will have carpet in all the bedrooms. That was the only flooring we did not upgrade.

We have been in touch with our interior painter as well. I am not set on the house colors yet, but I think the kitchen, living and hallways will be SW Alabaster. For the bathrooms, I am leaning towards SW Sea Salt. I am still undecided on the dining room, playroom and bedrooms. We haven't been to the Sherwin Williams store yet to physically try the samples in the house. That could change our mind also. Fortunately, I dont have to worry about the exterior colors until summer!
